Deion was due to compete for the Cruiserweight British and Commonwealth titles on 21 November 2020 against Chris Billam-Smith, but has pulled out due to injury. We hope the bout will be rescheduled shortly.
Deion was born in 1989 in Hammersmith, West London and began kickboxing classes at the age of 11. At 18, he was widely recognized as the best Full Contact kickboxer in Britain, winning both British and European titles.
He joined the London Dale Youth Boxing Club at 19 and was trained by renowned coach Micky Delaney. He lifted the trophy as British ABA champion twice, in 2011 and 2012.
After 8 unbeaten fights as a professional boxer, Deion was struck with a heart problem and was out of boxing for 2 years. He returned to the sport in 2017, and became England Southern Area Champion and English Champion in 2019. In January 2020, Deion fought Sam Hyde in a British Title eliminator, winning by unanimous decision. Akira has proudly sponsored Deion since 2017.
